Hey friends 👋 ,
Happy Wednesday and welcome to Through the Noise!
If I had to count the number of hours I spent on the game 'Cookie Clicker' with one hand, I'd need 100 hands. Today, we're exploring the idea of gamifying your life with AI.

Cookie Clicker for Life
DALL·E prompt: "a black and white sketch of a cookie"
I was first introduced to the simple joys of Cookie Clicker by a childhood friend. He showed me how you click on the cookie, earn more cookies, and then use those cookies to purchase upgrades that would help you bake even more cookies. It was a game that immediately captured my imagination. The result? I spent countless hours in the endless cycle of clicking, building and upgrading.
Years have passed, and technology has advanced in ways I could have never imagined. And yet, the core mechanics of Cookie Clicker remain as enjoyable as ever. But now, there's something new on the horizon.
AI has revolutionised the way we interact with technology. One application that I'm particularly excited about is using AI to build a "Cookie Clicker for Life". This concept takes the addictive gameplay of Cookie Clicker and applies it to real-life tasks, allowing us to automate our daily routines and free up more time to focus on what really matters.
The AI would be trained on your habits, routines and goals, allowing it to make decisions on your behalf to streamline your life.
An interface for this system might look something like this:
A simple button that can be found on your desktop
When the button is pressed, the AI takes control and starts automating tasks
The AI would have access to various sources of information including your email, calendars, files, and text messages
The AI would then use this information to determine the most efficient course of action, such as:
Opening your email client and drafting a reply
Conducting research and collecting information for a future trip
Scheduling a meeting with a co-worker at the most convenient time
The AI system would not replace the need for human interaction or decision-making entirely. Instead, it would serve as a helpful assistant, taking care of the tasks that we often put off or forget about. This frees you up to focus on more creative tasks, reducing the stress that comes with your cluttered inbox or never-ending to-do list.
This would have seemed like science fiction when I was a child. Now, it’s going to be a reality that's within reach sooner than we think.
I can't help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought of exploring this new frontier of gamifying productivity. After all, life is a journey, and the journey is always more interesting when you have a little bit of magic by your side.
